Development of an Intelligent Traffic Management System for the UCF Driving

Abstract. The UCF Driving Simulator has evolved since the late 1990's into a midrange simulator with the potential to conduct research in transportation, human factors and realtime simulation. A few years ago, the most serious limitation related to the absence of vehicular traffic in the visual data base. In 1999, a multi-year project was initiated to introduce autonomous vehicles for real-time interaction with the simulator vehicle and scenario development. This paper describes the progress during the first two years.
